The alternative title for this post was “that time we stole a coffee table from Pottery Barn.” Because, although we didn’t literally steal it, I feel like it was probably borderline illegal. One day while casually strolling through our local PB, this little number caught my eye in the Flea Market section.
Somehow, someone in the back decided to list an $899 rusticly delicious coffee table for a grand total of $89. Hopefully that title now makes a bit more sense 🙂 In their defense, it did look terribly broken, but fortunately for reclaimed wood lovers everywhere, it was not beyond repair. Did we need it? Of course not. Did it come home with us? Absolutely.
I should have taken a “before” picture, but due to our complete shock and excitedness, we missed that step. Blogger fail! Basically, there are two drawers that slide from either side and are held closed by magnets. The entire bottom brace for the drawers was hanging down, making them unusable. We were 99% sure we could fix it when we got home, and decided to take the risk.
After getting it home and examining it a bit more, it took ONE stinking screw to reassemble the entire thing! So, one hour, one screw, and $89 later we had a fabulous new table that works so much better in our family room!
We also decided to swing the couch around so the long part of the sectional protrudes into the room, and we love it so much more! Funny how a simple change can make such a difference.
I love how the wood tones in the table play so nicely with the beams as well.
We also made a few other updates to the space you might have noticed, including the new carpeting and the simple, chunky shelves! More on those to come soon 🙂
